NJ.org is documenting the struggles of entrepreneurs and business incubators/accelerators. This ongoing series aims to help up and coming entrepreneurs discover what they need to do and become in order to achieve their dreams.

There are two tri-state entrepreneurial hatching grounds that will be reviewed: the Enterprise Development Center (EDC) business incubator at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) in NYC.

The EDC at NJIT is home to nearly 86 high-tech and life-science companies. Located on the campus of the NJIT, EDC companies have access to NJIT facilities and can partner with researchers to help grow their business. EDC is in the heart of Newark’s University Heights Science Park and the Newark Innovation Zone.

The EDC is hosting Startupalooza NJ Event on Feb. 9 from 3-6 PM Admision is FREE.

Parking App

Have you ever parked on the street in any of the five boroughs in New York City? Did you ever wonder what the parking signs actually mean?

The development team at Can I Park Here, LLC created a simple-to-use iPhone app that allows users to decipher any parking sign in New York City with a touch of the button.

Almost all residents, commuters, city visitors, Broadway theatre enthusiasts, museum goers, and restaurant dwellers are aware that a parking garage in New York City can cost on average $40 per visit. Even worse, a street parking ticket can be more then $100. But how much would a tow to the pound cost? Don’t even ponder it; just download the app for a one time fee of $1.99 full article.
