Summer: Places to Go, Things to See
If you think that the shore is
just for beach bums you obviously have not come to
the New Jersey shore. “Down the shore”
as the locals call it there is so much to do that
you could spend an entire week and not even make it
to the beach! For those that are vacationing for less
than the entire summer, the following is a “cheat
sheet” to some of the shore’s best events!
1. Amusements & Water Parks
The shore certainly has it fair share of amusements
and water parks, but with so many different places
which ones are the best? Two sure bets are Gillians
Island (Ocean City, NJ) and Morey’s Peir (Wildwood,
NJ). Not only will both of these places dazzle your
sense of thrill and excitement, they are both fit
for all ages. Some say you have not lived until you
take a ride on the Ferris wheel at night on the board
walk.
2.
Night in Venice
The “Night in Venice” is one of Ocean
City’s most spectacular events. This experience
takes place on the third weekend in July and features
a show of over 100 lighted boats throughout the bay.
This weekend is as busy as the Forth of July and for
good reason, most shore goers find this to be the
best event of the season!
3. The Boardwalks
If you are in Point Pleasant, Ocean City, Wildwood,
or Atlantic City you have access to some of the world’s
finest boardwalks. Taking a stroll to view the scenery,
shopping at many of the stores, or gambling in Atlantic
City, there is something for everyone on the shore’s
boardwalks. A great morning activity is to rent bikes
and take a ride on the boardwalk! This is also a good
time to scope out activities for the day!
4. Golf
If you like golf you are in luck because New Jersey’s
shore is home to some of the greatest gold courses
in the world. You have your pick of top rated courses
with some of the finest amenities available. If you
are traveling with the intent of golfing a lot try
booking a “golf vacation” at the shore.
Many courses offer “play and stay” packages
at a substantial discount.
5. Lighthouse Tours
Experience the shore at its finest! Tours of many
of the lighthouses of the Jersey Shore are an informative
experience as well as a breathtaking one. The views
from the lighthouses are spectacular, especially Cape
May Lighthouse. This is a great activity to do on
a rainy day because the views of the turbulent ocean
are magnificent.
