Phil Murphy labeled the double turncoat “a traitor.”
Rep. Jeff Van Drew, who switched parties after voting against impeaching Donald Trump and then embraced the president, asked the U.S. Supreme Court Friday to throw out the election results in four battleground states so Trump could win a second term.
Van Drew, R-2nd Dist., is one of 126 House Republicans who signed a brief in support of an unprecedented effort by Texas and 17 other GOP-run states to have the U.S. Supreme Court throw out millions of ballots in four battleground states that flipped to Joe Biden last month, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin. Trump had won all four in 2016 en route to the White House.
The lawmakers’ actions led Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., D-9th Dist., to call on House Democratic leaders to exclude those House Republicans from the 117th Congress. He cited the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which says no one can serve in Congress who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion.”
