24-year-old dead after ‘serious crash’ in Mantua, cops say


Both drivers involved were teenagers.

A 24-year-old died from injuries of a car crash Saturday night after two vehicles collided on Bridgeton Pike in Mantua Township, police said Sunday morning. 

Officers responded to the scene of the “very serious” crash on the 200 block Bridgeton Pike Saturday just after 8 p.m., police wrote in a statement on their Facebook page. 

A 19-year-old driver heading north on Bridgeton Pike collided with a 16-year-old driver exiting the parking lot of a former K-Mart, police said. They added that the 16-year-old was driving with a learner’s permit, and had two siblings in the car. 

The 24-year-old sibling died on the scene, and others involved were taken to Cooper University Hospital. 

The deceased, who has not been identified, police said, was a Mantua Township resident.
