3-alarm fire damages 4 stores at Jackson strip mall

No one was hurt in the fire at Brook Plaza on Sunday night

A fire that swept through a strip mall in Jackson on Sunday night left four businesses damaged, officials said. 

No one was hurt in the blaze that broke out around 10:40 p.m. in the utility room at a business on Brook Plaza on South New Prospect Road, Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said.

Firefighters from Jackson and several surrounding towns battled the 3-alarm fire for hours.

Smoke poured from the roof of the shopping center as firefighters fought the fire around 11 p.m, TheLakewoodScoop.com reported. 

Officials were still on the scene as of 9 a.m. Monday, according to a woman who answered the phone at the Jackson Board of Fire Commissioners Office.

Police and fire officials in Jackson didn’t respond to messages seeking additional information.
