JERSEY CITY — A 7-year-old child was among the five people who jumped from a second-floor window Sunday night to escape a burning building.

The three-alarm fire at 119 Bayview Ave. displaced a total of 15 people and left three injured, Jersey City Fire Chief Steve McGill said. The family, which also included a 16-year-old, jumped from a second-floor window in the rear of the building, which appeared to be about 15 feet from the ground.
