Willowbrook Mall in Wayne temporarily closed due to fire department activity

The Willowbrook Mall in Wayne was temporarily closed Sunday afternoon due to fire department activity, police said.

The Passaic County mall, which is one of the largest in New Jersey, was closed around 2 p.m. and people were asked to avoid the area, according to a Facebook post by the Wayne Township Police Department.

Police did not immediately say if there was a fire at the mall and released no additional information.

The mall was reopened about an hour later with the exception of the food court, which was expected to remain closed for an undefined amount of time, police said.
