Air quality alert for 5 N.J. counties until early Tuesday

On Monday at 9:32 a.m. the National Weather Service reported an air quality alert in effect until Tuesday at midnight for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.
“The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for the following counties: Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union until 11 p.m. this evening. An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone and Fine Particulates within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards,” says the weather service.
