Collaborative mural celebrating womanhood to be unveiled in Newark

A towering celebration of female empowerment will soon grace Newark’s skyline as Rutgers University–Newark’s BOLD Women’s Leadership Network and Project for Empty Space prepare to unveil a collaborative mural on June 6.

The 70-foot, four-story artwork titled “Courage” will be revealed at 800 Broad St. at 11 a.m., showcasing the creative partnership between artist Adama Delphine Fawundu and students from the BOLD scholarship program.

The mural, which celebrates the power of womanhood, female identity and ancestral power, features a figure adorned with cowrie shells rising upward against a vibrant background.
