Former Elementary Principal Admits To Possessing Child Pornography

LANOKA HARBOR – A former elementary school principal has admitted to possessing photos of child sexual abuse, state officials said.
John Mangan, 78, of Lanoka Harbor, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. According to the New Jersey Department of Education, Mangan had previously been convicted of sexual assault of a teenaged victim between the age of 13 and 16 in 1997. During this time he was a principal in Ringwood, NJ.
Agents with Department of Homeland Security searched Mangan’s home in Lanoka Harbor on October 29, 2024, and discovered an electronic device containing over 250 images of children being sexually abused.
