New Jersey launches a two-month tax amnesty program for taxpayers to pay past due bills.

A special two-month tax amnesty launched Thursday for those who owe state of New Jersey money.

Qualifying taxpayers can have penalties waived and interest payment cut in half if they settle up before Jan. 15, the state’s Division of Taxation announced.

The amnesty applies to tax filings or payments that were due anytime between Feb. 1, 2009, and Sept. 1, 2017, according to the Division of Taxation.
