Trump reaffirms love for UFC at sold-out night in Newark

At 9:51 p.m. on Saturday, Joshua Van, a flyweight, went on a furious offensive inside the UFC 316 octagon at the Prudential Center. As his counterpart backpedaled into the chain-link fence, Van drove him to the mat and kept pounding with 16 consecutive punches for a TKO.

Five minutes later, President Donald Trump walked in as “American Bad Ass” by Kid Rock played on the sound system. He was accompanied by UFC CEO Dana White, as well as his daughter Ivanka, son, Eric, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Notably absent from the coterie was Elon Musk, the tech billionaire who engaged in verbal sparring with the president throughout the week.

While the Musk bromance remained on the ropes, Trump’s relationship with UFC was reaffirmed….
