For the second time this month, a small earthquake hit the New Jersey area, according to preliminary information from the United States Geological Survey.
The USGS reports the epicenter of an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.7 was registered two kilometers southwest of Hillsdale in Bergen County on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
The earthquake comes only a few days after a small earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 hit the New Jersey suburb of Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, Aug. 2, less than eight miles west of Central Park in New York City, at a depth of about 6.2 miles. It was felt fairly widely in northern parts of the state, southern New York and even in southern Connecticut.
