Jacquelyn DeVoti

Jacquelyn DeVoti, age 71, of Lake Como, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Born on June 29, 1953, in Glen Ridge, NJ, and raised in Montclair, Jacquelyn—affectionately known as Jackie was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and Montclair State University. She planted her roots in Lake Como in 1985, where she spent many joyful years enjoying the Jersey Shore. Jackie loved to travel, spending a month in New Zealand with friends and sailing with her scuba group off the Cayman Islands. Jackie enjoyed the beach and loved ending the day with a glass of wine on her deck, with family, friends, neighbors, sharing stories and laughter. Her door and her heart were always open.
She worked for 30 years at AT&T-Bell Labs in Holmdel as a Network Engineer, where she not only had a successful career but also made many lifelong friends. She volunteered with students at the yearly Presidential classroom in Washington, DC, and served on the Lake Como Board of Education.
As a communicant and volunteer at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Avon-by-the-Sea, faith was central to who Jackie was. She was a generous supporter of numerous charitable causes and was known for her strong faith and kind heart. Jackie’s love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She had a very close and loving relationship with her six siblings and was a devoted aunt to her 30 nieces and nephews. She cherished the family gatherings and started a DeVoti tradition to host an annual Fourth of July pancake breakfast – an event full of laughter and love that everyone looks forward to year after year. Once the summer season started, she was the first to say, “Let’s go to the Columns in Avon for Lobster Night”, as she frequented so many of the restaurants around the shore.
Jackie will be remembered for her quick wit and banter, as well as her unwavering loyalty and willingness to show up for anyone who needed her. She lived a purposeful life with meaningful connections and joy.
She was predeceased by her parents, William J. and Annabelle (née McGlynn) DeVoti, Sr., and her brothers, George W. and William J. DeVoti, Jr.
Surviving are her five siblings, Suzanne Fitzgerald of Wall, Marlene Fetterly of Bloomfield, Denise Sperrazza and her husband Michael of Belmar, Mark DeVoti and his wife Jean of Cranford, Matthew DeVoti and his wife Laura of North Caldwell, her sister-in-law Betty DeVoti of Point Pleasant, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will miss her deeply.
Viewing will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4–8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, May 31st at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church, 424 Lincoln Ave., Avon-by-the-Sea.
There will be no procession from the funeral home; everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jacquelyn’s name to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
