Nancy Ellen Shalhoub

Nancy Ellen Shalhoub, 87, of Sea Girt, NJ, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025 peacefully at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, and raised in Tenafly, NJ. Then in 1970 Nancy raised her family in Englewood, NJ, before moving to Sea Girt in 2010. She was a parishioner of St. John’s in Leonia, NJ, then of St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, for the last 15 years. She had a deep connection with her religion and passed her faith on to her family. She attended Ladycliff College, Highland Falls, NY, and created lifelong friendships who she shared joy and laughter with throughout her life. She thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the beach on Brooklyn Blvd in Sea Girt creating lasting relationships of over 40 years. Nancy was very proud of her work of more than a decade on the Women’s Auxiliary Board for St. Vincent’s Hospital, Manhattan, NY, raising funds towards charitable health care programs within the health system. Her greatest joy was being with her family and devoting her time and love to her husband and four boys.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Eileen Canning, her husband Dr. Edward Henry Shalhoub, her son Edward Charles Shalhoub, and her brother Brian Canning. Surviving are her sons, Michael Brian Shalhoub, John Patrick Shalhoub and his wife Rebecca, Robert Francis Shalhoub M.D., her daughter in law Michele Shalhoub, five grandchildren, Edward Joseph, Mary Kate, Robert Angelo, Ella Joy and Ava Jean, her sister in law, Susan Canning and her niece and nephew, Keavy and Timothy. Nancy is also survived by her life long best friends, Sissy (Charlene) Kreusch and Carole Guerra. The three could only be described as true sisters with their lifelong companionship.
Visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 9:30am at St. Mark’s Church, 215 Crescent Pkwy., Sea Girt, NJ. Committal will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall.
