Cal Fire opens applications for $135 million in fire prevention grants

Cal Fire’s Wildfire Prevention Grants Program announced that up to $135 million will be available for local projects. 

Projects focused on assisting disadvantaged, low-income, disabled or elderly populations will receive priority funding. Additionally, projects that reduce carbon emissions also will be prioritized.

The grant applications are open now and will close at 3 p.m. on Aug. 6. A virtual public workshop explaining the application process and grant requirements will be held from 11 a.m. to noon July 1.
