Newark man among five indicted in $700K multi-county car theft and home invasion ring

Five men have been indicted for their alleged roles in a high-end car theft and home burglary ring that targeted residences across New Jersey and New York, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced Friday.

Samir White, 19, of Newark, faces multiple charges including conspiracy, auto theft, home invasion burglary, and weapons offenses. His co-defendants — Quamine McDonald, Samir Jordan, Tysir Philips, and Tauheed McLean — have also been indicted in connection with the theft ring.

“Breaking into homes, as is alleged in this indictment, adds a new level of danger to the crime of car theft,” said Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.
