Dorothy Jean Temple, lovingly known as ‘Dot,’ passed away peacefully at her home in Manasquan, New Jersey, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She was 94 years old.
Born in 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, Dorothy began working at the age of 15 as a long-distance telephone operator in Asbury Park, NJ. After her shifts, she would head to the ocean to swim at night-marking the beginning of a lifelong love for the water.
It was fitting, then, that her first date with the love of her life, Alfred ‘Bub’ Temple, was at the beach. The two would go on to marry, build a beautiful life together, and raise a large, close-knit family that includes five children, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
