SEA GIRT — Please don’t pet the goats.
That is the warning to residents from borough officials after they approved a plan to rent a goat-grazing service to clear green overgrowth along The Terrace.
The authorization on July 9 of the Green Goats Rhinebeck rental service, of Duchess County, New York, is in response to invasive plants “taking over parks and open spaces in a pretty devastating fashion,” said Council President Diane Anthony.
This pilot program was initiated by the borough with financial support from the Sea Girt Conservancy, a town-based environmental organization. The total cost is expected to be around $8,000.
