After years of speculation and efforts, it’s finally official. A WNBA franchise is coming to Philadelphia.
Philly’s new professional women’s basketball team will make its debut in the 2030 season, pending approval from the WNBA and the NBA Board of Governors, the league announced on Monday, June 30, 2025. The team — which has not yet been named — will be based in South Philadelphia and will be owned and operated by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE).
