After Yankees’ series loss to Dodgers, here’s state of team from David Cole

LOS ANGELES — The Yankees saved some face beating the Dodgers 7-3 on Sunday night at Dodger Stadium.

After two really bad days, a blown three-run lead with Max Fried pitching in a Friday night’s 8-5 loss and an 18-2 whipping on Saturday, the Yankees avoided being swept in this World Series rematch weekend.

Except for closer Luke Weaver’s hamstring injury and left fielder Jasson Dominguez suffering a thumb contusion, this was a fun night for the Yankees, who were fired up over going 6-3 on a three-city West Coast trip that started with a series win in Colorado and sweep in Anaheim.

It’s only the beginning of June, the Yankees are sitting pretty with a 36-22 record that has leading the AL East by 5.5 games over the second-place Blue Jays. Only three teams have a better record, the…
