It was with mild irony that a format designed to speed the game up actually seemed to slow Manasquan down in the first half against Glen Ridge.
In the opening halves of their last five games, the Warriors operated somewhat like a living, breathing, passing and shooting shot clock without it being formally imposed.
“Obviously we came out slow. That’s unlikely of us,” senior attackman Brandon Kunz said. “Our main goal is to come out with fire. We come out and score the first goal, score the next four, and we didn’t do that today.”
Nope, but the threat and the wherewithal to make good on the threat were very much present, as Glen Ridge would discover almost as soon as that first half came to a close with Manasquan trailing by three goals.
