A man drowned while swimming in the Brandywine Creek in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, police said.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 20, around 11 a.m. Police said Sergio Ayala-Vilchis of Mexico was swimming in the Brandywine Creek near State Route 1 and Mill Road in Chadds Ford with a woman he had met the night before at a club in Delaware. While the two were in the center of the creek, Ayala-Vilchis began to panic and couldn’t swim in the water’s current, investigators said. The woman made it safely out of the creek but couldn’t see Ayala-Vilchis, according to state police.
Pennsylvania State Troopers, multiple fire departments and medics responded to the scene. They later found Ayala-Vilchis’ body in the center of the creek. His death was ruled…
