Mets rookie — a top prospect — notches first big league win: ‘Something you dream about’

NEW YORK — Mets rookie Blade Tidwell didn’t keep a memento.

In his first career start at Citi Field, one in which he notched his first-career win, the 24-year-old from Tennessee didn’t get a ball or anything. Instead, he settled for a “little shower,” Tidwell said, wearing a sheepish smile.

“It feels great,” Tidwell continued. “Something you dream about your whole life, and to go out there and do it is an unbelievable feeling.”

The Mets’ No. 14 prospect (MLB Pipeline) provided his team with important innings in Saturday’s 7-3 win. Entering in relief of Huascar Brazobán, the opener, Tidwell shut down the Brewers for four innings before finally breaking in the sixth.
