N.J. mom charged with killing daughter might have overdosed on drugs that night, cops say

A 43-year-old New Jersey mother charged Tuesday in the murder of her 3-year-old daughter might have overdosed on drugs on the night of the girl’s death, authorities said.

Jeanine M. Glass was “suffering from a potential drug overdose” when Florham Park police were called to the home by another resident at about 10:40 p.m. on July 6, according to court documents. Officers found her unconscious in the home’s office, wearing wet clothes.

Police checked the girl’s room and found the crib empty with the bedroom lights on. Moments later, officers found Glass’ daughter clothed and in a bathtub with several inches of water, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
