Desiree Grace, a longtime federal prosecutor, said she intends to assume the role of U.S. attorney for New Jersey on Saturday, despite effort by President Donald Trump’s administration to “remove” her from office just hours after her appointment.

In a public statement posted to LinkedIn Wednesday evening, Grace — the state’s current first assistant U.S. attorney — acknowledged the political controversy surrounding her appointment but said she plans to follow the court’s order.
