One person was killed in a plane crash near the Lancaster Airport in Lititz, on Sunday morning, officials said.
Early Sunday, the coroner’s office responded to the area of the 2100 block of Kissel Hill Road in Lititz after, a plane crash was reported at that location.
The crash, officials said, happened just before 8 a.m.
In a morning update, investigators with the FAA said, in a statement, that the plane that crashed was a Piper PA-46. The aircraft crashed into a field after departing the Lancaster Airport at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, the FAA said in a statement.
Investigators with the FAA said the pilot — who officials have not yet provided further identifying information on — was the only person on board when the crash occurred.
