Route 30 is closed in both directions in Atlantic City due to a malfunction at the Route 30/Absecon Boulevard Bridge due to excessive heat, officials said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the bridge over the Beach Thorofare opened to let a boat pass earlier in the day and did not close properly due to heat expansion.
New Jersey Department of Transportation and Atlantic City Fire Department crews are working to fix the problem and reopen the roadway, but it will remain closed until further notice for the time being, officials said.
People traveling to and from Atlantic City are encouraged to take alternative routes, such as the Atlantic City Expressway, during the repairs.
