Two homicides under investigation in N.J. town, officials say

Authorities in Essex County said they were actively investigating two homicides in Maplewood Friday night.

A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the investigation into the two homicides in Maplewood, but declined to provide any details.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and no further details are available at this time,” the spokesperson said.

Police activity was reported on South 4th Street in Maplewood Friday afternoon, according to local news site TAPinto SOMA. The news site also reported the presence of police and Essex County Prosecutor’s Office investigators at the scene.

Maplewood police did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
